Somatics

Somatic movement practices help the body quickly and efficiently unwind long held muscular tension. These practices are incredibly effective in releasing tension related to stress, daily habits in a modern world (such as sitting in a chair while working on a computer), or physical trauma.

Somatic movement practices are also very gentle. They utilize the mindful contraction of a specific muscle group, followed by a very slow conscious release.

When we find freedom from muscular tension, we restore our natural posture and patterns of functional movement. Long muscles are also strong muscles. This translates to more ease in our daily lives, in yoga postures, and in all of the physical things we love to do (like walking, hiking, running, biking, or swimming).
