At Yara Yoga, our focus is whole-being well-being. We offer a variety of classes, workshops, and retreats designed to connect participants to their internal resources and innate sense of wholeness. We share the wisdom and practice of yoga in a way that is trauma-conscious, somatic-based, easy to understand, and accessible to all.

Our Approach

In our yoga classes, instructors weave in somatic awareness, breathing techniques, traditional hatha yoga postures, mindfulness, meditation, yoga philosophy, and relaxation. We strive to nurture self-awareness through the use of interoception and somatic exploration - to sense, feel, and notice the body from within.


The Meaning of Yara

Yara is an Arabic word that translates to small butterfly. Interpreting animal symbolism allows us to draw connections to our own lives. We might relate the butterfly’s stages to our own phases and challenges of life. Yara symbolizes growth and transformation through the metamorphosis from egg, to caterpillar, to cocoon, and finally to unfurl its wings and emerge as a beautiful butterfly. A butterfly surrenders to the flow of life and embraces its changing environment and body.


Despite illness of body or mind, in spite of blinding despair or habitual belief, who you are is whole.

Let nothing keep you separate from the truth. The soul, illumined from within, longs to be known for what it is.

Undying, untouched by fire or the storms of life, there is a place inside where stillness and abiding peace reside. You can ride the breath to go there.

Despite doubt or hopeless turns of mind, you are not broken. Spirit surrounds, embraces, fills you from the inside out. Release everything that isn't your true nature.

What's left, the fullness, light and shadow, claim all that as your birthright.
